About the Role

As the Communications & Engagement Officer, you will play a vital role in shaping and executing CHEVS’ communication and engagement strategies, expanding CHEVS' reach into Francophone audiences. Key responsibilities include:

  • Content Creation: Develop engaging content (articles, social media posts, newsletters, and press releases) that reflect CHEVS' mission and values.

  • Digital Communication: Manage digital platforms, monitor online metrics, and engage with audiences across channels.

  • Public Relations: Cultivate relationships with journalists, influencers, and media outlets while promoting CHEVS' visibility.

  • Event Planning: Assist in planning events, workshops, and community outreach initiatives.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with community leaders, partners, and stakeholders to foster collaboration.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least 2 – 4 years of experience in communication, public relations, or related fields, experience in human rights or social justice is a plus.

  • Proven experience with digital communication and social media strategies.

  • Strong understanding of the communication, political & social landscape in West Africa.

  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong video editing, graphic design & copywriting skills.

  • Strong organisational and project management skills.

  • Proficiency in communication tools and software such as Zoom, Squarespace, Canva, Mailchimp, and others.

  • Fluency in English/French and knowledge of local languages are added advantages.

  • Commitment to feminist principles, intersectionality, and decolonial approaches.
